High above the Lauterbrunnen Valley, where snow-capped summits meet endless skies, the Swiss Alps reveal their most inspiring side. In the Bernese Oberland, nature sets the rhythm: crisp mountain air, vast panoramas and light that shifts from golden dawns to luminous alpine sunsets. At Grand Hotel Belvedere in Wengen, Beaumier invites you to experience this grandeur differently — through thoughtful hospitality, refined design and moments that reconnect you with what truly matters.

The Lauterbrunnen Valley spreads out below, between sheer cliffs and plunging waterfalls, while above, the Jungfraujoch – known as the “Top of Europe” – can be reached by cogwheel train on an iconic ascent through the Eiger. Another highlight is Wengen, a car-free village perched on a sun-drenched plateau. An ideal destination for those who prefer to travel under their own power – on foot, by bicycle or by sledge.
The Grand Hotel Belvedere integrates beautifully into this harmonious setting. This Alpine haven facing the snow-capped summits sets the stage for an extraordinary stay, where the landscape transforms every moment into a lasting memory.
Wengen is a car-free village in the Bernese Oberland, reached by cogwheel railway from Lauterbrunnen. The journey itself — ascending through waterfalls and Alpine forest — sets the tone for what follows. The nearest international airports are Zurich (2h30) and Geneva (3h). How to get to Grand Hotel Belvedere.
Its stillness. A car-free village at 1,274 metres, Wengen sits above the Lauterbrunnen valley with uninterrupted views of the Eiger, Mönch and Jungfrau. The absence of traffic gives it a calm that is genuinely rare in the Alps.
Built in 1912 and restored with care, the Belvedere is one of the great Alpine hotels. Its position at the edge of the village — facing the Jungfrau massif, with a century-old garden and a terrace framed by the mountains — makes it a destination in its own right, as much as a base for the slopes or the trails.
The Jungfrau region is one of Switzerland's great hiking destinations. Trails range from gentle valley walks to high-altitude routes with views across glaciers. The Männlichen ridge walk and the path to Kleine Scheidegg are among the finest. There is also mountain biking, paragliding and easy access to the Jungfraujoch.
Wengen is part of the Jungfrau Ski Region, sharing slopes with Grindelwald and Mürren — 206 km of marked runs in total. The resort is known for the Lauberhorn, one of the most storied descents in World Cup skiing, and for its long, scenic runs suited to all levels.
Winter brings the skiing and the particular silence of snowfall in the mountains. Summer offers hiking and an Alpine landscape in full colour. Both seasons are excellent; the choice comes down to what draws you to the mountains.
